Energy Efficient Whitehall

The Technology Strategy Board is running a competition which will see Whitehall buildings demonstrating new energy efficiency technology.  The aim is to reduce energy bills, saving money for the taxpayer, and to give businesses the opportunity to provide innovative new solutions through government contracts.

The project  is designed to  use research and development to dramatically improve the energy performance of typical government offices such as the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS), the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the Department of Communities and Local Government (CLG) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

Relevant businesses will be invited to compete for contracts in a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition called Energy Efficient Whitehall, run by the government-backed Technology Strategy Board and co-funded by the Department of Energy and Climate Change with the support of the Office for Government Commerce (OGC).  The current amount of total investment stands at £2.75m but could grow with engagement from other government departments.

The Workshop

The MBE KTN will run a workshop on the morning of Friday 26th February to enable businesses to find out more about the competition and to find out details about the buildings that will be part of the competition.  Participants will have the opportunity to meet and talk with the Technology Strategy Board and other stakeholders to help determine how their technology or innovation can best be applied in each building.

Please register using the link above.  Please note we expect a high level of interest in this event so please only register if you will definitely be attending, also registrations are limited to one person per organisation.
